TOURISM & TRADITION: IVITE AGULERI ANNOUNCES DATE FOR IYIENU WRESTLING COMPETITION.

The Iyienu Ivite Aguleri Festival committee, on Tuesday said it has commenced full preparations for the 2023 Iyienu Festival, designed to promote and showcase the culture and tradition of Aguleri people.
Ogbuevi Uchenna Iyienu the Priest of the Aguleri deity, who made this known in Aguleri, said that the festival would hold from October 9th to 13th 2023.
According to him, the festival proper, known as Olili onwa Isaa will hold on 9th and 10th October 2023. He also said that women who are looking for fruit of womb are invited to the ceremony, early in the morning on 13th of October to join in a women procession to the Iyienu stream. He added that the Wrestling competitions known as Mgba Iyienu will hold in the evening of the same day at Iyienu public square.
He said apart from the promotion of Aguleri culture, that Iyienu Festival will attract tourists and economic development to the community.
Ogbuevi Uchenna said they would ensure a successful and memorable festival.
