The people of Enugwu Nsugbe and Nneyi Umuleri communities in Anambra East local government area of Anambra State have once again taken arms against each other with two persons : Chara Nweje and Gozie Ambrose Anyansi all from Nsugbe killed and others wounded over the disputed Ochicha Apilopi/ Obinka land.
A native of Nsugbe community who spoke on condition of anonymity narrated that it was after the mounting of MOPOL BASE sign post with the inscription of Enugwu Nsugbe at the disputed land in the early hours of yesterday, that his community was invaded by Umueri community. He simply said the attack was done by the entire Umueri community, he made reference to a certain viral voice note, where the person congratulated the entire Umueri communities after the incident.
"We don’t know what prompted the attack, but government has sent police to the area".
He however did not confirm the casualty figure but simply said that the police had mounted heavy security watch on the two communities.
However, another Umuleri man who spoke to OMT reporters on the condition of anonomity accused Nsugbe indigenes of invading Umueri community. In his statement, he said that Ndi Umueri were in their community when the indigenes of Nsugbe invaded them with different kinds of guns. He however, thanked all the entire indigenes of Umuleri for coming out to defend their father's land.
Enugwu Nsugbe and Nneyi Umueri have been at war over communal land which at different times had claimed lives and several property in the communities.
