Three teenagers have reportedly drowned in Omabala river at Otuocha area of Aguleri town, Anambra State.
The drowned teenagers were identified as Onyeka Celestine Eugene Okonkwo from Enugwu otu, another victim was an indigene of Umuala in Eziagulu Otu while the identity of the third victim is not yet known.
The OMT gathered that the young boys, who were between 14 to 15 years of age, had gone swimming in the river during Ada festival where they drowned.
It was learnt that the incident was reported to the police on 5th January 2024.
A source said the lifeless bodies of the deceased were all recovered in the river after the incident occurred.
The source added that the bodies of the drowned teenagers have also been buried.
The Aguleri vigilante group confirmed the incident, saying the deceased had gone to the river to play.
He said, “They jumped into the river to swim and got drowned but their parents have buried them.”
It was also confirmed that one Mr John, an Okada rider who was stabbed during the festival has been discharged from the hospital.
