Chief Okoye Chike Stone yesterday secured 30 votes against Hon. Ifeanyi Chinweze from Umuleri and Hon. Tony Emelife (Oloye) from Nando who got 25 and 20 votes respectively in All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) final internal election/selection for Anambra East local government TC Chairmanship position.
The aim of the yesterday's election was to drop one male from the already nominated 3 candidates which were all Males and replace same with a female on the list for final submission as was directed the by Governor Soludo.
Earlier, members of All Progressive Alliance Anambra East local government Area had submitted list of 3 male nominees for the local government Chairmanship position but the Governor's guideline requested that one of the male Nominees should be replaced with a female for the sake of gender equality.
The 5 principal Officers from the 15 wards across the LGA were the delegates that voted in the final election yesterday. The principal Officers consist of the Ward Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Secretaries, Women Leaders and Youth Leaders.
The political zones that make up the local government are 3 and each zone is made up of 5 wards each.
The Aguleri zone "A" nominee, Chief Okoye Chike popularly known as Stone emerged the overall winner in yesterday's contest, while Hon. Ifeanyi Chinweze who came second is also qualified to represent his Zone C while Hon. Tony Melife from Nando and a representative of Zone B was replaced with a woman, Mrs Martina Nwawuo from the same zone.
With the above final selection yesterday, Anambra East LGA TC Chairman's nomination list has met all the necessary guideline as was directed by his Excellency, Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
