I WAS KIDNAPPED BY FULANI HERDSMEN AND MADE TO PAY A RANSOM OF N6.5M~~-IGBOANUGO AGULERI

 By Dr Innocent Chidumebi Okonkwo

"I Was Kidnapped By Fulani Hedrsmen, Taken To Igbariam forest And Made To pay a ransom of N6.5m. My abductors said they trailed me for over 1 month ' -

Aguleri born business man, who was kidnapped in his block industry near Mopol Base has just shared his sad experience with his abductors in Anambra East.

Narrating his ordeal, the business man said, 'I was kidnapped by Fulani Herdsmen on 16th July, 2024 in my factory, two minutes away from my house, they came out from a bush opposite my block industry and took me to the bush, we trekked from Mopol Base in Aguleri to Igbariam near the Anambra University gate .

They were armed with guns and shot sporadically, I tried to escape but they picked me out from my friends who were with me in the factory during the incident and they were armed fully, with rifles and was later bundled into the bush. While trekking inside the bush I overheard people farming in their lands".

He said they fed him with loaves of bread and dirty water fetched from the bush.

The victim said the kidnappers requested for a ransom of N50m and he asked them how would they believe he had such amount of money and is struggling to cover his  moulded blocks under the rain where they picked him up and that was what touched them before they soft pedalled and came down to N10m.

"They were regularly communicating with the informant whom one of them told me was my friend. The informant thought that I had a lot  money in my account but when they saw evidence that my wife had sold my phone and even deposited my car to get a loan of N1m for the ransom, they started believing that I was saying the truth and called the informant to explain to him that I couldn't pay up to 10m".

He said he was the only victim held in the bush and he was not blind folded although his abductors used handkerchief to cover parts of their faces.

" The place was not a camp because when we were there I was hearing the movements of people in Igbariam University".

He finally appreciated all his brothers and friends for their contributions to his freedom.
