The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA Otuocha Branch, has urged legal practitioners to adopt an innovative, financially conscious, and ethically enterprising approach to practice, as it concluded its 2026 Bar Week themed _“The Lawyer as a Business Man.”_
The 3-day programme held from *June 26th to 28th June 2026* at *Park View Hotel, Aguleri, Anambra State*, brought together senior lawyers, members of the branch, and guests to interrogate the intersection of law, enterprise, and professional growth.
*Dr. O.L. Udemezue, Chairman of the Association*, in his welcome address, stated that modern lawyers must be open to legitimate opportunities within and outside traditional law practice. He appreciated the discussants and his colleagues, adding that this year’s event was also an opportunity to celebrate friendship among members of the Bar.
*Peter Nzediegwu Odili Esq., LLM, Chairman of the 2026 Bar Week Planning Committee, Otuocha Branch*, said in his address that it has become necessary for lawyers to examine the effects of businesses and their impacts on legal practice and the advancement of the legal profession.
The event was chaired by *Chief Emeka J.P. Obegolu, SAN, PhD*, with *Alex C. Ejesieme, SAN*, as keynote speaker. *His Excellency, D.O. Nosike, Governor, Eastern Bar Forum*, attended as Special Guest of Honour.
Discussants at the programme were *Mrs. Oyinkasola, SAN; Amaka Ezeno; Chief Stanley Chidozie Imo, SAN; and Chief Ifeanyichukwu Obiakor, SAN*.
The Bar Week is significant as it brings the tenure of the *2024 to 2026 Executive of the Otuocha Branch led by Dr. Oluchukwu Udemezue* to an end and ushers in a new tenure to be led by *Peter N. Odili, Esq.*
